PERSEPHONE

PERSEPHONE is inspired by Gian Lorenzo Bernini's famous baroque marble sculpture Ratto di Proserpina (The Rape of Proserpina), as well as the Greek Myth of Persephone's abduction to the underworld. The ballet examines the chiaroscuro in each character of the myth; Hades, Cerberus, and Persephone. It is a precarious balance between pleasure, power, consent, and aggression.

Played live by Het Nationale Orkestra. Music by Hans Abrahamsen, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Ezio Bosso.
